Type on PDF: All You Need to Know

You may have the option to hide the sidebar (by going to Documents > View > Sidebar), or the search bar. If the sidebar is visible, it is due to the fact that, as in Word, you may select a Word document and, in your settings, toggle the sidebar on-and-off. This is especially true in Windows Vista. I recommend turning off the sidebar so that you have less clutter, and you can find everything easier. You may get a message if you have a certain document open, showing that you can't save it because it's not a .doc file, etc. There's nothing wrong with this, but it's better to save it as one anyway. If you are using Reader, or are in any other “read only” mode, and you choose the option “Edit With” in order to make the page scrollable, then you are not really using Reader at all.
